From 16 to 19 October, during the ninth exhibition i Saloni WorldWide Moscow 2013 held a competition for young designers SaloneSatellite and master classes . THOUGHTS ON THE LIGHT AND GLASS FROM VENICE
The Light Art is a form of art that expresses both installations with environmental objects and results of special effect with the glass material for its intrinsic characteristics that can embody the light and color. Many centuries ago Venice saw the birth of one of the most successful and popular pairings between glass and light, the chandelier of Murano, archetype of the eighteenth century “ciocca” chandelier, made by Giuseppe Briati for Ca ‘Rezzonico. Welsh artist Cerith Wyn Evans created the installation, based on that historic object «Time here becomes space», a lighting readymade device that comes on intermittently following the impulses transmitted from the song Le Gaspard de la Nuit by Ravel. Under the chandelier there’re glass chrysanthemums, blown by maestro Gianni Seguso. This is the work of one of the seven international artists of the exhibition A Very Light Art, headed by Cornelia Lauf with the scientific direction of Gabriella Belli. Henry Bradford Washbourne traveled the world for eight decades, capturing landscapes from the Grand Canyon to the Alps, from Mount McKinley to the Matterhorn. “The wandering genius and master of doom” – so called him a famous American photographer Adam Ensel.
